Rev. Emily McGinley is the founding pastor of Urban Village Church (Hyde Park | Woodlawn), the fourth location of a multi-site United Methodist Church in the city of Chicago. Urban Village Church is a church committed to the values of being BOLD (rooted in the gospel of Jesus Christ), INCLUSIVE (committed to welcoming those across the LGBTQ spectrum and practices of anti-racism), and RELEVANT (what we believe must have meaning and purpose for the world we live in). An ordained minister in the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) with roots in the non-denominational, evangelical tradition, Rev. McGinley has extensive experience working with and building networks among leaders across diverse Christian traditions. She has preached and presented on vocational discernment, preaching, inclusive church planting, the use of social media in ministry, inclusive evangelism, and building a culture of anti-racism in congregations. She has also served as a coach for building a culture of radical hospitality for other congregations, and was a contributing writer to the book, Inter-Cultural Ministry: Hope for a Changing World.
